Can’t argue with these numbers

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

I just wanted to update you all on how we’ve been doing since the switch to Tmobile from Sprint.

Actually, I’ll just let the numbers do the talking:-)

So far so good

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

I wanted to share a bit about our experience so far with Tmobile. I know it’s a bit off topic but whatever. The reason I’m doing this is because as a special needs family, we need to save money whenever possible. Perhaps my experience will benefit someone else.

So often we hear,  you get what you pay for. That seems to insinuate that paying more for something brings better quality.

I’m here to say, that’s not always the case.

Having been with Sprint for years, I can honestly say that so far, not only is Tmobile much, much cheaper but the quality of service is significantly better than that of Sprint. When I say better, I’m talking night and day differences.

We have had extremely good service thus far and service in places we were lacking with Sprint.

The monthly savings are going to help out as well.  In our life, every penny counts.

If anyone has any questions about the process of switching or about Tmobile service, please feel free to ask.

Excuse me, I farted

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

We had to run out to Sprint last night and made it a family affair.  Emmett came into the store with me and was really, deliriously tired.

We wanted to sit down but there were no empty chairs.

I picked him up and say him down on the counter, right in front of me.  We were chatting with an awesome associate, who actually made the trip lots of fun.

Anyway, a few minutes later,  Emmett began to giggle uncontrollably.  Next thing I know, he rips this extremely loud fart.

We’re talking,  the noise reverberated off the glass counter.

Emmett,  through his hysterical laughter, says,  excuse me I farted.

The associate behind the counter, was simply dying. This was partly because it smelled unbelievably awful but also because it was the funniest thing he’d ever seen.

Emmett was laughing so hard that he had tears streaming out of his little eyes.

It was awesome and easily the highlight of my day.  Come to think of it, I’m not sure that’s a good thing or not, but it was funny as hell.  :-)

@Sprint, you continue to disappoint me

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

Lizze and I have been experiencing really bad service with @Sprint since we switched back in May. I’ve been working with their networking department to figure out what’s wrong.

I think it’s common knowledge that @Sprint has a network that is crippled,  why the pretend it’s otherwise is beyond me.

They decided that it was best to send me a replacement phone because there was nothing wrong with the network. Yeah right.

Anyway, the phone they sent me had problems with the screen and I had to take it to the @Sprint store to have it looked at.  The problem with the screen is that there are really dark black splotches and lines, all over the screen.  This is a known issue with AMOLED screen and it can’t be fixed.

Mine is so bad that it can be seen on certain, brighter wallpapers.

The other issue is that there was no improvement in service quality.  I’m seeing speed test numbers like this: 1200ms Ping,  < 80kb Down and < 180 kb Up. I can’t even poll my email much of the time. Forget uploading pictures to this blog.

I took my phone into the @Sprint store and explained to the associate what was wrong.  I even provided solid black pictures that make it easy to see the issues.  He seemed seemed pretty nice but less than knowledgeable.  He told me that they may have to replace
the screen.

I could be wrong, but I don’t think they are allowed to cracked open these phone a delicate replace anything.  I could be wrong,  but I don’t think I am.

Anyway, he tells me that because I don’t have insurance, it will cost me $35.  I explained that I’m supposed to have insurance on all my lines and that for some reason it was removed back in July, without my permission.  Likely a computer glitch.  This was supposed to be fixed and the insurance added back on but clearly that hasn’t happened yet.

So basically, I was billed $35 for my replacement phone to be sent.  That money resulted in a bad device and they want to bill me another $35 to replace it again. All because they haven’t fixed my account yet.

I left the phone with them and was told it would take 1.5 hours to access.

What’s that all about?

It literally takes 30 seconds to walk into a darker room and look at the screen.

I’m writing this as I’m sitting in the parking lot outside of the store waiting. As I’m sitting here I watched an older couple walk into the store and walk out a few minutes later, complaining about the service they received. They said “that guy was a real piece of work, what a jerk”.

That doesn’t sound like really good customer service, does it.

I’ve got another 30 minutes to wait before I know what they are going to do.  They still have a chance to do right by me.

What will they do?

Relocation 11/16/2011

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

I just wanted to take a second and thank everyone for all your support. I want to thank the McCabe’s for taking it upon themselves to reach out and help my family by launching a fundraiser that you can read about in the stickied post at the top of my home page.

Thank you for all the generous donations that will assist in our relocation. Please remember,  do not feel obligated to help.  :-)

I thought I would update you all as to the progress of my search.

I have been searching everyday via Realtor.com and the local papers.  Nothing has turned up thus far.  Again, I want to make sure that we do this right the first time.

I will keep you all updated as to the progress.  Thank you again for all the love and support you have shown my family.

Please have a good afternoon :-)

Fattest Squirrel EVER

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

This is completely off topic,  however,  I thought it was pretty funny.  My neighbor loves squirrels.  He actually makes them little tiny peanut butter sandwiches.  He’s actually one of our nice neighbor’s. It just kills me when I see these squirrels scratch at his door when they are hungry. Then they sit there eating these tiny sandwiches.

Anyway, this squirrel is so fat that it can barely squeeze under the fence anymore. This thing is like a regulation size football, with a tail.
I just thought is was humorous and wanted to share.  :-)

Hope everyone is having a good day….

Snuggly Emmett, Sleepy Daddy

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

I saddened to say that Emmett has hit yet another cycle.  He has been running a fever since yesterday afternoon and has developed large cold sores on his tongue.

He’s actually in a surprisingly good mood, considering.

If we had it to do all over again,  I don’t know that I would go through with the surgery he had a few months ago. While the surgery did lessen the intensity of the cycles,  they are no longer predictable.

The cycles used to hit like clockwork,  about every 3 weeks and last for 10 days.  Now they hit at random times,  often twice a week.  They don’t last as long but they are more frequent.  In a sense,  it’s worse now then before because we have no idea when the next one is going to hit and for how long.

Either way,  Emmett is super snuggly and while I wish he wasn’t sick,  I love and cherish these snuggle times.
