The spike

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

Well,  Emmett hasn’t had an actual fever flare in quite some time.  He has instead mostly gotten the mouth sores alone.

However, this time he’s definitely spiking a fever and is miserable.

I have to run out and get some more advil to control the fever.  I hope this cycle goes quickly and doesn’t drag out the usual 10 days.

How did it feel to find out your child has #Autism?

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

Today’s #Autism Discussion is about what you felt when you learned that your child has #Autism?

What was your initial reaction to hearing those words for the first time?

For me personally,  it literally felt like my entire world was made of glass and had just been shattered. That the only way that I can describe it.

Please share your experience in the comments and hopefully by learning you aren’t alone, you’ll feel less isolated.

This is the best way I can think to describe what I felt.

Recovering from the tantrum

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

I’m so frustrated right now because I don’t like feeling like my hands are tied.. There is very little we can do when it comes to Gavin until we get the funding in place to get him placed.

Gavin’s tantrum tonight has disrupted to such an extent that the dogs are peeing on the floor.

Both dogs are completely house broken but you wouldn’t know it tonight.  Emmett has been on complete overload this even as well and spent most of tonight crying.

He’s already not feeling well and tonight’s events just sorta pushed him over the edge.

Elliott is spending the night at my parents tonight and is doing well.

We had a special dinner with Emmett tonight to try and distract him from the fact that Elliott went somewhere and he didn’t.

Lizze and I are going to chill out tonight and try to relax.

Let the manipulation begin

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

Gavin is already trying to manipulate his way into special breaks at school. He’s also becoming annoyed by questions and is way to focused on snack time.

The kids are allowed to bring a snack to eat before lunch.

Gavin asked if he could bring a banana to school today.  However, because he’s so focused on eating that it’s interfering with his class work and impacting his attitude, perhaps there won’t be any more snacks.

That sees like a pretty natural consequence to me.

Having said that, Gavin doesn’t care that we are doing that. Sometimes I feel like beating my head into the wall because that holds more appeal for me than continuing to deal with this stuff.   :-(

The #Autism Meet and Greet

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

Lostandtired.com has become very popular.  There thousands of visits to my site each and every day.  I’m really proud of that and I also grateful.

However, I haven’t had the pleasure or honor of meeting many of you. I would like that to change.

You all know about me and my family but I don’t know anything about many of you folks.  I would really like it if you would take a second and introduce yourselves.  Maybe share something about your story.
I know it’s not always easy to do that but I think it would go a long way towards bolstering the community here.

I think of us all as one giant extended family.  We all aim to help each other,  whether here on the blog or inside the Autism Help ForumsYou can find a shoulder to lean on or simply a sounding board to bounce ideas off of.

There are no judgements or bullying because the people that come here are above that.

Please take a second and introduce yourself.  I already know many of you but so many others don’t.  Perhaps this will help the many people that visit but do so quietly to find their voice.  I for one would love to hear it.  :-)

Hoarse

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

Emmett is having another rough morning. He has screamed himself hoarse again. I don’t know what’s up with him but something surely is.

He’s been asking to go to a movie for the past few days. Lizze and I are going to take him to see a $1 movie this afternoon before picking the boys up from school.

I don’t expect to make it through the whole movie but maybe this will help to change the direction for the rest of the day.
