Let’s talk “apps” for #Autism

DiggPinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

Something that I have been wanting to do for awhile but haven‘t had the time, was to compile a list of recommended apps.

The use of mobile devices such as android smartphones or tablets and iPads or iPhones, have become an amazing tool for use with children on the #Autism spectrum.

What I would like to do is encourage you to share your favorite apps for either android or iOS.

In the comments below, please give the name of the app you’re recommending, along with the platform (android or iOS) and if possible, a direct link to the app on the Google Play Store.  I don’t know how that works for apple but you can browse the Google Play store from your computer and actually install apps OTA.

I will take your recommendations and add them to a page that I’m working on that will help parents locate apps for use with their special needs children.

Autonomic Crisis: Update 07/13/2012 (11pm)

DiggPinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

I made it back home for less than an hour before being called back to the hospital. Gavin’s heart rate is back up again and Lizze wanted to make sure I was there tonight.

It’s going to be a really long night.

Your continued prayers are greatly appreciated.  Thanks to everyone for all your support…

Things are not good for the Lost and Tired family…..

As an FYI,  I’m listing my Playstation Vita on ebay ASAP. It should be a great deal for anyone looking to grab Sony’s Newest Console. It comes with a 32GB memory card and Hot Shots Golf.  It also includes a 2 year accidental protection plan and some accessories.  I just swapped it out at Best Buy so this is brand new.

I’ll post a link as soon as I get it listed.

Update: Here is the eBay link.

Friday Forums: Financing #Autism

DiggPinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

Hello everyone. I thought this would be a good topic for today’s Friday Forums. For many families out there touched by special needs children, life is challenging.
However, how do you balance financial security and raising a special needs family? I was thinking we could share some tips and tricks when it comes to managing money, planning for the future and covering medical expenses.

This is a pretty broad topic so anything goes. Here’s an example of what I mean. When you have a limited grocery budget, how do you provide for a child with special and expensive dietary needs?

You get the point.

Let’s help each other learn to better survive…. :)

The discussion will take place in #Autism Help Forums.

Registration is simple, fast and free. You will need to confirm your email before being allowed to actually post anything.

Can’t be at your computer today? No problem. Download and install the free Autism Help App from the Google Play Store. Either click the link or simply search the Google Play Store for Autism Help. You can sign up and access the forums directly from your Android device.

If you are already a registered member of the forums already, simply follow this link to join in the discussion right now.

I look forward to meeting all of you and hopefully being able to both help and learn at the same time. :-)

Forum Friday: Let’s Talk Respite

DiggPinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

Today’s Friday Forum topic is once again, something I think is important to discuss. Respite care is something that so many of us desperately needs and so few of us actually get. I actually just posted about this and I discussed my concerns with respite and I have heard from a few of you expressing the very same concerns.

I decided that this would warrant further discussion and a sharing of experience. While this Friday’s topic is the main discussion for the week, please feel free to jump in on the previous discussions as well.

The discussion will take place in the #Autism Help Forums.

Lost and Tired + CNN = #Autism Awareness

DiggPinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

I have been working on something and have been pretty hush hush about it. However, I think I can let the cat out of the bag, so to speak. :-)

I’m soooooo excited to share with you all that I have written my 1st article for CNN. I’m told the article will go live sometime tomorrow. This article is for #Autism Awareness month and I really hope it helps to educate those that aren’t as familiar with #Autism and help them to have a better understanding of what lies beneath the surface. It’s so important for the future of not only my kids but all children and adults with #Autism, that the world see them for who they really are. They are all amazing people in their own unique way and deserve our respect, compassion and understanding.

Hopefully my words will help to foster this. If even one single person learns something from my experience, I think that’s a step in the right direction :-)

I’ll pass along the link when the article goes live. It’s supposed to be published on Monday, April 9th. When it does go live, please take a few minutes and check it out. I would love to hear your feedback.

Thank you all for being so amazingly supportive :-)

Update:The article has not gone live yet. As soon as it does, I’ll pass along the link and I would love to get some feedback on the CNN site. :-)

Thanks
