This doesn’t seem like good deal

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

I grabbed this picture of the Burger King sign on my way to the farmers market.  I love signs that a flawed and thought this one was pretty funny.

The sign reads: Original Chicken $104 Fri Sat Sun.

Punctuation is very important when writing and even more so to the person reading.

It’s not selfish, it’s survival

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

As I’m sure you can imagine,  Lizze and I don’t get out much. What I mean by that is we don’t get out by ourselves very often.

It’s tough not to be able to spend some alone time with your spouse or partner because you’re always wrapped up in the kids.

Last year we had decided that even if we can’t get away,  at least we can dedicate some time to each other,  at least every once in awhile. More often than not,  these plans fall through for one reason or another.

However,  tonight Lizze and I hung out and had some ice cream and watched our new obsession on Netflix.

Last year,  Lizze and I watched the entire series of Lost. We don’t have cable or anything so we have to wait for it to become available on NetFlix.  We watched that show and finished the entire series in a few weeks.

I was personally devastated by the way Lost ended.

Since then,  we haven’t been able to find a show to switch over to.  Sure we have watched the entire series of King of The Hill more times than I can remember but we haven’t found anything that really motivated us to sit down and watch it regularly.

However,  we recently began watching the show Supernatural and we are freaking addicted.  Lizze and I steal a few hours a night,  as often as possible,  so we can watch 2 or 3 episodes.  We are currently in the middle of season 2.

I’m sure some people would hear this and think Lizze and I are pretty sad to think this qualifies as quality time together.

To them I would say something like,  as special needs parents we don’t have the luxury of spending the typical quality time together.  Instead we chose to spend whatever time we can find with quality people,  each other.  Sometimes that all you get. Honestly,  it enough for us.

I hope you all put there have your own version of quality time.  Whether your single or with someone,  it’s so important to have some time to yourself or with your significant other.  We are living very stressful lives and if we want to survive,  we need to take care of ourselves.

It’s not selfish,  it’s survival.

What the heck are you doing?

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

Lizze and I are downstairs watching King of the Hill and kept hearing this thumping sound.

We figured it was Gavin because he was the only one still awake. Having said that, I had no idea what the hell he was doing.

When the noise didn’t stop,  I went upstairs to see what heck he was doing.

I want you to guess what he was doing..  Go on and guess.

I’m waiting……

Since I bet most of you won’t ever guess I’ll just tell you.

He was freaking running into the wall in his bedroom,  falling down and doing it again….over and over again.

WTF………

I was like,  “WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING? ”

I meant that question to be rhetorical but of course,  he answered.

He was like,  “I was doing this Dad”.

All I could think to say was,  “GO TO BED”.
I probably shouldn’t have had to add this but I felt I should just in case.  I told him that he was not aloud to run into the wall anymore.

I’m going to try to go find a happy place…

OMG it’s quiet

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

It’s 10pm on a Friday night, the kids are in bed and sleeping.  The house is actually completely quiet.

Lizze and I are actually able to chill out on the couch and just relax.

She’s working on her netbook and I writing about….well…this.  King of the Hill is on Netflix and a cup of tea and a pretzel are in the near future.

I hope your night is quiet and peaceful.

What a great way to bring in the 3 day weekend.

Are you fu*king kidding me

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

I was reading my friend, Jill’s blog last night. I was inspired by her expert use of colorful language while writing this. I have a ways to go in honing that skill but I hope this makes you proud Jill…. :-) I dropped a censored f-bomb :-)

Emmett did really well at the immunologist. He charmed all the nurses….as he always does.

When his tongue was examined they found many, many cold sores. He has two actually on his tongue. One is about an inch long and shaped like a football. The other is is a bit smaller, but not by much.

He also has them all over the rest of his mouth.

He’s barely eating and as a result, has lost about a pound since Wednesday night.

The prednisone is not working anymore.

I thought we were going to talk about other treatment options but I guess I was wrong.

She asked about Emmett’s joints. It was kinda funny she asked -not really though- because he has been complaining about his elbows.

I mentioned that he was screaming yesterday because his elbows were hurting again. He hadn’t hurt himself but he just kept screaming. My Dad stopped by yesterday and Emmett would allow himself to be touched because he hurt so bad.

This type of thing has occurred several times now. Once it prompted us to rake him to the Emergency Room because we thought he had dislocated his elbow.

We have been referred to the rheumatologist because immunology is concerned about rheumatoid arthritis.

Are you fu@king kidding me…. He’s 3 years old. How is that even possible? Hopefully that will turn out to be nothing………….

I documented the day with pictures and I wanted to share …….

Emmett did amazingly well with the taking of his vitals.

For Emmett, the appointment was absolutely worth it because they had Angry Bird stickers. It doesn’t get any cooler than that…..at least for a 3 year old obsessed with Angry Birds.  :-)

How are you spending the New Years Eve

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

As the clock ticks closer and closer to 2012, I wondered how you will all be celebrating tonight and tomorrow?

As the last remaining member of the Lost and Tired family still awake on this new years eve,  I will likely spend it alone watching NetFlix. Lizze was going to hang out tonight but I think she fell asleep and I don’t have the heart to wake her up.

So,  it will be left over Pizza Hut pizza and some King of the Hill for me.  Rather boring but also rather relaxing.

I hope you all have a safe and happy New Years Eve,  no matter how you choose to spend it.  :-)

The crack in the road

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

Emmett had a really rough day.  He finally settled down after this mornings….events.  I mentioned to Emmett that I needed to go get crickets for Toothless.

His eyes lit up like a Christmas tree.  He decided he wanted to go with me.  However,  he needed to get dressed.  He loves getting crickets for Toothless.

Anyway,  he scrambled to get himself dressed. You can see his amazing taste is clothes ;-)

The fact that he was willing to get dressed was a pretty big victory.

We arrived at the pet store and got out of the car.  However,  Emmett took notice of a crack in the road. He was absolutely fascinated by it.  He traced it with his little fingers.

It was one of those moments that just was captivated me. It was so innocent.  He just wanted to explore this break in the road and then he wanted it fixed.  He started to get anxious because he noticed there were cracks everywhere.

I had to remind him that we were there for a reason.  I was able to redirect him and completed our quest.

Toothless ate like a king….
