Grief

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

As I write this my beloved Auntie Paula is dying of lung cancer. Stupid, freaking, destructive cancer. I hate it. I hate that I’m not with her more. It’s not my place to be with her. My uncle is there. My cousins, her daughters, are there. And her grand-daughters are there. My Grammy Lou Who (I only call her that here on the blog, I don‘t know why.) is there with my partner in crime, my Auntie Sharon. My Auntie Paula doesn‘t need me there. Yet, I feel as if I should be there.

I feel like I’m moving through molasses. Every breath is too thick and it hurts. My brain feels fuzzy and hazy, like I’m drunk and stoned. Only I’m stone cold sober. Moving just feels… awkward. I can’t really explain it but my body doesn‘t feel like it’s entirely mine. Everything hurts – every joint, every muscle, every everything – which isn‘t new or unusual yet it is. This isn‘t my usual pain. This isn‘t my usual achy don‘t touch me, my skin feels like it’s on fire pain. Although my skin does feel like it’s on fire. It just doesn‘t feel…right.

I’m hungry one minute. I feel like I’m starving and I haven’t eaten in days (I have I assure you). Then 10 minutes later the mere idea of food turns my stomach and I can’t stand to look at it.

What the hell is happening to me?

Does any of this make sense?

If you have any thoughts or ideas or well wishes or whatever please leave them as a comment on my post on my blog so that I can enjoy them.

Thank you for your love and support!

My newest #Autism Awareness T-Shirt released: Starts at $10

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

I wanted to share with all of you my newest t-shirt design. This is focused on spreading the word about Autism Awareness Month. Aside from spreading Autism Awareness, my goal is to make these as affordable and accessible as possible.

Today’s release starts at only $10 and shares the message that “April is for Autism Awareness“.

This is one of my favorites and I hope you find it pleasing and something you would sport to show your support for Autism Awareness.

Use your words

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

I thought this was pretty funny.  This morning, I walked into the house from our meeting and apparently forgot to feed the tortoise before leaving.

Needless to say, he didn’t look very happy with me as he sat there waiting for Mr to feed him.

I thought use your words made a pretty good caption.  Do you have a better one?

#Autism and the Tornado Warnings

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

We are currently under a tornado warning and have been told to go to the basement.  We’re trying to keep the boys calm and keeping everyone in the living room until we hear the sirens.

I’m sitting out on the porch to keep an eye on things and listen for the siren warning of impending disaster.

If you could keep the Lost and Tired family in your thoughts and prayers once again that would be greatly appreciated.  Also please keep everyone else who is in the path of these natural disasters in your thoughts and prayers as well.

Emmett John’s Blue Eyes

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

I wanted to share one of my favorite pictures of my little Emmett John. This is the actual color of his eyes. I just made the rest black and white.

His eyes are absolutely amazing. I absolutely LOVE this picture.

The Lighter Side of #Autism: 04/04/2012

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

Emmett appears to be coming into another fever flare.  He’s super grouchy and ended up missing speech therapy due to this friggin PFAPA.

Despite him being miserable and grouchy,  I’m wanted to share some positive moments I have with Mr.  Emmett John today.

As challenging as things are for the Lost and Tired family,  I try my best to find the positive in each day and share it with you all by showing you The Lighter Side of #Autism.   Enjoy…

Me and Emmett :-)

I’ll be there for you

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

Bella had a appointment at the Vet this morning. Emmett was very anxious to go along with Bella. He wanted to make sure she was okay.

He was so freaking adorable, and he did such a good job taking care of his friend Bella. The Vet was so nice, as usual. He explained everything he was doing, so that Emmett understood. He was concerned but super brave when it was time for Bella’s vaccine.

The Vet said that Bella was the perfect dog and that Emmett was doing an amazing job of caring for her.

I explained how Emmett and Bella are perfect for each other. Bella helps Emmett to do things that he wouldn’t do otherwise. As his father, I’m so incredibly proud of how well he’s doing with Bella. Watching him today show empathy, compassion and genuine concern for her, filled me with an overwhelming sense of pride.

I got some cute pictures of the two of them today. Simply priceless. :-)
