PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

Welcome once again to the #Autism Blogroll for 2013

I’ve brought back my #Autism Blogroll for 2013 and we are starting fresh. If you added your link in the past, you should do so again. Every year I have to purge the database because there are simply too many links. So it’s time to add your link back. Read below for more information.

Remember, this is open to any person, organization or business that has anything to do with #Autism or Special Needs Parenting in general. If you are a resource or company that provides products that benefit the special needs community, you’re encouraged to add your link as well.

I like helping people, especially those touched by #Autism and their families. Blogging has been a big help to me. I thought I would try to help the Autism blogging community by providing a page to submit your Autism or special needs related website or blog. I only ask that you add a link back to my site as well. Basically, you are adding yourself to my blog roll.

This site, lostandtired.com receives about 30,000 hits a day, so this might help your site gain some visibility.

When visitors come to read Lost and Tired they will also see your linked blog, via my blog roll as well. This can help to drive traffic to newer and older blogs alike. The internet is literally filled with hundreds and hundreds of millions of websites. I think #Autism and #Autism related bloggers have a very important message for the world and I want to help your voice be heard. The same goes for other #Autism and special needs related resources as well.  help to get your blog or website some visibility also.

So I added a page to my blog called Autism Blogroll as well as a new blog roll widget on my front page. Also you can see the traffic generated to and from your blog as a result of this link exchange on the Autism Blogroll.

How do I add my blog?

All you have to do is go here or simply click on the Autism Blogroll page above.

Fill out the information and submit your site.

Please be sure to use this format for entering your web address: http://www.yoursite.com, the easiest way to do this is to copy your complete web address off of your address bar and then paste it into the form.

As soon as I see the submission it will be listed and appear in my blogroll on the front page of this site. It’s that simple.

Please include my link on your site as well by copying and pasting the following code into a text widget or other location on your blog or simply add me to your blog roll:

<a href=”http://lostandtired.com” title=” Raising 3 boys on the #Autism Spectrum” target=”_blank”>Lost and Tired</a>

This code will simply look like this once added “Lost and Tired

I hope you find this helpful. I think if we all work together and pool our collective resources, we can help our voices to be heard.

If you experience any problems adding your link to my Autism Blogroll, please don’t hesitate to Contact Me.

Demand A Plan to End Gun Violence

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

In the aftermath of Sandy Hook Elementary and all the other horrible tragedies involving gun violence, I completely support this message. I realize that in United States, we have a right to bare arms. However, something very clearly has to give. Sandy Hook

We have to find a way to address this problem and keep our children safe. Personally, I willing to accept tighter restrictions or whatever is necessary in order to keep our children safe from gun violence.

Having said that, we also must realize that guns are not the only problem.

There is always a person that pulls the trigger. Even if we remove guns, won’t that deranged person find another way to inflict violence? We need a dynamic plan that will address this from as many angles as possible.

I don’t have the answers but I do know that something must be done to end gun violence. No more waiting. No more deaths. No more loss.

Elliott does not have pneumonia 🙂

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

We had a last minute change of plans.  Lizze took Elliott to the pediatrician’s office this morning.

As it turns out,  Elliott does not have pneumonia like his younger brother.  What Elliott does have is an extremely nasty sinus infection.  He begins antibiotics this afternoon. The doctor said that with infections this bad,  a second round of antibiotics will likely be needed.

While it sucks that he is this sick,  I’m super happy that he doesn’t have pneumonia.

Next up to the pediatrician today is Gavin.  Gavin has the occasional cough but his throat is sore.  The doctor wants to see him because,  I guess they are seeing pneumonia cases presenting with only a sore throat.  As I’m thinking about it,  Gavin had pneumonia nine months ago and didn’t show any signs.  We found this out at our first trip to the immunologist. We had just found out about his immune system and we’re discussing options.  When he was examined,  they discovered he had pneumonia.

I had forgotten about that.  Gavin never presents typically with anything.

Here I am thinking he’s the only one not really sick and he may actually be the sickest. Hopefully,  there will be nothing to worry about. But I can’t believe I forgot about that.

Sigh…….

Confessions of a special needs father: Overwhelmed, lost and tired

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

I have a confession to make.  I’m completely and utterly overwhelmed.  In the past three days we have several new challenges, Gavin and Elliott are both having seizures and Emmett has developed pneumonia.  Elliott will be seen today for possible pneumonia as well.

This has all happened in the past two or three days alone.

If I had all the time in the world and all I had to do was physically care for my family, it would be overwhelming. It’s literally like having three full time jobs without the benefit of a paycheck.

However,  I have other responsibilities to worry about as well aside from the physical care.  I have to keep the house from falling apart,  fight the school system,  deal with bill collectors, navigate all the various medical issues and make sure everyone gets the care they need.  In my spare time,  I do my best to provide for my family and keep up this blog.

It’s like being tied to a dozen different horses and someone fires a gun. The horses get spooked and subsequently pull me in a dozen different directions at the same time.

As more and more piles on my plate,  it’s becoming much harder to maintain anything. I can’t keep up with the house.  I can’t keep up with the yard or get the things needed to make the yard safer for the boys. This shouldn’t have even been an issue because we were supposed to move.  The theft of our van and being forced into a car payment has had a tremendous impact on us and has stopped the move to a new house and better neighborhood,  dead in its tracks.

I just can’t win for trying. I’m tired, overwhelmed,  frustrated, angry and losing hope that things will one day get better for my family. I know I sound like a whiner but whatever.  Right now that’s the least of my worries.

I try really hard to remain positive but with sleepless nights and really sick special needs kids,  it’s getting harder to remain positive.

I’m done venting for now.  Thanks for listening,  I really appreciate it.  :-)

Another day, another trip to the doctors

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

Lizze and Emmett are on their way to the pediatrician’s office to get Emmett checked out. He isn’t getting any better and we think he may have strep throat now as well. Whatever he has, has spread to the other boys and that makes three special needs kids, all sick at one time, under the same roof, with a father about to lose his marbles.

Hopefully, he will be able to get some relief and antibiotics, if needed.

Again, having multiple special needs kids, all sick at the same time, should break some kind of law. I’m not sure why it’s allowed to happen but if I was in charge for just one day, I would make it a rule that special needs families should only ever have to deal with one sick, special needs child at a time. I think a great deal of us would benefit from a law like this. Maybe I should run for whatever office would put me in a position to make executive decisions like that.

I’ll look into it and get back to you :-)

Today’s Victory: 03/22/2012

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

Today’s Victory is brought to you by amazing wife,  Lizze.  I meant to do this yesterday but for whatever reason it didn’t happen.

I want to share how proud of her I am and what better way to do that than with Today’s Victory.

As you all know,  Lizze has been struggling with health issues for many years,  including Fibromyalgia,  which is a chronic pain disorder. She is in constant pain,  all the time.

She has been wanting to do physical therapy for a long time but was just in to much to pain to take anything on. Well,  yesterday she finally went,  despite pain. She is really motivated to get as much relief as possible. They asked her what her go was and she said that she wants to be able to run again.

For the first time,  in a very long time,  she has some hope for the future. Awesome..

I’m so proud of her…  :-)

Wednesday Night Fever

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

I’m sooooo friggin’ tired. Between Emmett and now Elliott,  sleep was had by none.  Elliott is running a fever this morning,  most likely courtesy of Mr.  Emmett John.

I’m pretty sure I saw it written somewhere that if you have special needs kids,  only one child can be sick at a time.

If that isn’t written somewhere,  it should be.
