Free 16GB HD Android Tablet

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

UPDATE: This Giveaway is officially open to Canadian residents, unless prohibited by law.. I’ll adjust the widget when I get home thus afternoon. I’m so happy to be able to extend this to all my friends to the north. :-)

Before we get started, I want to explain why I’m doing these giveaways. These tablets are generously donated by Idolian. I’m free to give them away as I see fit. I’ve chosen the giveaway route because it seems to be the most fair. My goal is to not only provide this technology to those that need it, free of charge, but also raise Autism Awareness in the process.

Anyone can enter (right now it’s Continental US and Canadian Residents (unless prohibited by law) ONLY because I have to pay for shipping out of pocket. At the moment I can’t afford to ship outside of the US and I’m sorry for that.) You don’t have to have Autism or be a special needs parent in order to win.

Remember, my goal is to raise Autism Awareness and help other families.

We really owe Idolian a huge thank you because they are the only company that I know of that is willing to reach out and provide these devices to the community

@Lost_and_Tired Android Tablet Giveaway

Welcome to the latest and greatest giveaway from Lost and Tired. I’m honored to work with Idolian, in conjunction with millerrupp.com to make this giveaway possible. I haven’t met any other company that was willing to step up and help provide the autism community with this much needed technology. They deserve all the credit for this.

This particular giveaway is the first for the month of March and is for the 2013-02-12 09.16.04recently reviewed Idolian Mini Studio Dual Core, 8″ android tablet (See Mini Studio 8″ #Android Tablet Review). This android tablet is a direct competitor to the new iPad
Mini. The Mini Studio by Idolian, stacks up spec for spec (with the exception of the camera) with the more expensive iPad Mini.

It also has all the massive advantages that go along with the android OS as well, the biggest being customization and choice.

Now for the details of the giveaway.

First and foremost, the disclaimer:

Members of the Lost and Tired family are not eligible for this giveaway. This contest is for the continental US and Canadian Residents (unless prohibited by law) ONLY. Sorry, I can’t afford international shipping.

This giveaway is for one (1) Mini Studio 8″ android tablet by Idolian. This contest will run from 03/13/2013 – 03/22/2013. You can enter by using the form below. If for any reason you need to contact me, you can do so by clicking here.

Please note that that the winner will have 24 hours to respond to the notification email. After 24 hours I reserve the right to award the prize to the next on the list. Please check your email in the day following the end of this giveaway.

The Autism Help Forums are moving

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

I wanted to let everyone know that I’m in the process of moving the Autism Help Forums to a dedicated site. I want the site to be more easily found and by doing this, it will be.

Right now the forums are down as I will be migrating soon.

I hope to have them back up and running after a few security patches and upgrades.

Thank you for all your patience and support and we continue to work through our growing pains.

Lost and Tired needs help to stay online?

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

Over the past few days, you may have noticed that my site is running rather slow or it’s not functioning at all. That’s actually past of the reason for me not posting as often lately.

I just got off the phone with Tech support at bluehost. I have a rather large problem.

This is both good and bad at the same time.

Basically, the server is almost constantly throttling my site because I’m getting to much traffic for the shared server. They informed me that between October 16, 2012 and November 16, 2012, I have had over 1.5 million hits.

What does this mean?

On the plus side, I have a really popular site and a lot of people are finding something meaningful in my daily word vomit. For that, I’m truly honored.

However, this has also presented me with a problem as well. At some point, they are going to shut me down because I’m pulling to many resources and affecting other sites on the server.

The only solution is to move to another bluehost server. Essentially I have to move to a more dedicated-like server. This would afford me the additional resources needed to keep Lost and Tired online.

This also applies to the Autism Help Forums as well.

Bluehost has been kind enough to provide me with a discounted rate but the cost is still over $150. The truth is, I simply don’t have the money to cover the cost.

Not only does Lost and Tired mean a great deal to me, but I really like to think that I’m helping. I’m doing everything I can to provide the community with a place to connect with others and share our stories so that people can become more Autism Aware.

Unfortunately, I can’t do this alone, at least not this time.

I’ve never asked for donations before. I did add a Donate button about a year ago, in response to numerous requests.

Having said that, I need your help to keep Lost and Tired online for another year.

I’m trying to raise the $150 to cover the cost of the new server. This will cover the server costs for the next year.

If you are in a position to help and you feel that Lost and Tired is a worthy cause, I would be so grateful for anything you can do. I DO NOT want ANYONE to put themselves out, in anyway, shape or form. Your family MUST come first. Please don’t feel bad if you are unable to help or obligated to help, even if you can.

I was planing on making this move in January, with tax return. Clearly, I don’t think I have that much time.

Right now I’m only being throttled. They don’t know how long it will take before Lost and Tired is suspended.

Thank you so much for all your support. Please believe that I’m doing everything I can to fix this.

Would you like to see companies like @SamsungMobileUS team up with @Lost_and_Tired to help #Autism?

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

Here’s the deal. I think Samsung creates some of the most amazing pieces of technology. I know their new pieces of tech like the Galaxy Note series, not only destroy the iPad and iPhone in hardware but also in price.

Even previous years models would work amazingly well for families touched by #Autism.

I have worked with Samsung in the past to provide a family touched by #Autism a brand new Galaxy Tab 8.9. We did that last year actually.

I have received countless inquiries from families out there, in desperate need of a tablet device for use with their child with #Autism. If I could, I would buy everyone a tablet that needs one. Unfortunately, I can’t afford one either.

However, I would like to know what it would mean to your family, for a company like @SamsungMobileUS to donate a tablet to your child with #Autism. How would you look at such a company after that? What do you think when you hear about a family in need receiving a much needed device, in order to help their child?

Would you be more likely to support that company in the future? Would you tell your friends about that company?

I’m looking to create some attention and encourage companies like

@SamsungMobileUS, @Motorola@AcerAmerica and @ASUS to work with

@Lost_and_Tired in order to make at least one family’s holiday, extra special.

If you would like to help, please re-tweet this post on Twitter and tag these companies on Facebook. Let them know the difference they could make in the life of a child or family touched by #Autism.

Get #Autism help or advice while on the go

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

As many of you know, I launched a support forum earlier this year. There were hundreds of members and tons of interesting conversations going on.

The Autism Help Forums weren’t for Autism related things only. This forum supports the entire special needs community.

Unfortunately, I lost the database and I had to rebuild the forums, from scratch. This means that I am rebuilding the community and need your help.

However, out of the ashes of what was, has emerged something better.

I have recently relaunched the Autism Help Forums, with updated software and better Facebook integration.

Visit the Autism Help Forums, sign up and and introduce yourself. I realize that it can be tough to start the conversation but we need to break the ice sometime.

However, I’m most excited to announce the release of a brand new, vastly improved Autism Help app. Unfortunately, at the moment, this app is only available on Android.

However, if you’re using an Apple product, look in the app store for “Tapatalk“. You can also visit their site to find out if your device is supported.

These two apps are essentially the same. The difference being that the Autism Help app is customized for the Autism Help Forums and the standard Tapatalk app is not.

Both apps are free.

These apps will allow you to register, use and participate in the forums while on your mobile device. This is great if you have something come up and you need to vent or ask a question.

The Autism Help Forums are not meant to replace professional medical advice. However, sometimes it’s nice to get feedback and advice from people who actually live in the trenches and have been in your shoes.

That’s what the Autism Help Forums are for.

You can visit the forums by visiting www.lostandtired.com/autismhelp or by clicking the banner below.

To grab the Autism Help app for Android based devices, please click on the logo below or search the Google Play store for “Autism Help” on your wireless device.
