With the growing traffic on the Site,  I wanted to make it a bit more organized.  You may have noticed that some things have been moved around.

I have consolidated all the pages I to drop down menus and created an actual home page,  that I’m still working on.

I just wanted to get your thoughts on the changes and ask if you have any suggestions to make the Site more user friendly?

Thanks

About the author

Lost and Tired

I’m Rob Gorski and I started this blog in January 2010 as a means of sharing my family’s real life journey raising 3 boys on the #Autism Spectrum. It’s important for people to understand what Autism can really be like and the impact it has on the family. We aren’t a TV show and there are no actors. This is our struggle, our journey…and it’s all true. I am “Lost and Tired” and this is “My Reality #Autism”.

As someone who has just come from the depths of your history (I never like to read a new blog without reading all the old posts first), if there was some way to perhaps sort your history by year and month (maybe even day, since you often put out several posts per day) then that would make it much easier to go back and read a particular part of your story.

@Kate go to the bottom right of the page. You'll see an archives menu. Sorts by year and month.

I totally misread that. Sorry. Thanks for the great feedback. I'm liking the new comment system. It also for much better connectivity.

I do like the rollover drop down menus.  Not sure about the rest yet.  🙂

@OnyxPanthyr What about the dropdown menus don't you like? Just wondering. 🙂

@lostandtired I said I DO like dropdowns.  They make things neat and concise.  🙂  Which reminds me, I like how the posts on the blog are shortened now in the main area so I can see more readily what I've missed.  I just right click on "More" to open in a new tab to do my reading. What's a little annoying is the "recommended for you" thing that's been popping up on the bottom right corner.  I just found the circle to Opt out of that.Your site is pretty clean and relatively easy to navigate around.  I did join the Livefyre thing for the comments and I've noticed that I get an email notification that something new has been posted.  That's pretty neat too.  Things look like they're coming along nicely.

I just do the email subscription I rarely come putz around on the site so I can't comment on that, but I thought I should mention that a few days ago I noticed I was no longer getting my daily emails from you (again - the third time in about a year that it stopped. I had emailed you about it once a few months back) so I had to resubscribe and it acted like I was never a subscriber in the first place. So you likely lost your other email subscribers, not sure if there is a way to "get them back" (unless of course they come to like i did and resubscribe) but you may want to look into it?

@EmilyReviewsCom  WordPress was having issues with that I think. They were phasing out an older version and moved to a new process. I think it should be fixed now. I just subscribed to myself and if I stop receiving emails, than I know something is wrong and I will address it.

Thank you for your feedback. 🙂

Hey Rob,

To be honest, it was a bit of a pain at first, I just had to change the way I view it on my phone so that the blog page loads, not your home page. Now I just have to be careful not to navigate back using the main banner because that goes back to the home page. This new comments thing isn't quite as straightforward to use either, with the extra pop up - it wouldn't work from my phone before but maybe that's just because you hate iPhones 😉

I do hate the iPhone but there shouldn't be any pop ups 🙂

I ditched the homepage because I actually agree with you on that. I wanted to try it out for a few days and see how it went. The new comments plugin is the direction many site are now moving in.

Thanks for your feedback

@lostandtired Well I guess I'll have to join the bandwagon then..to pop up happens when you click "post comment as" I'm probably around frequently enough to justify having an account anyway!
