Is it time?

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

Emmett is in rare for this morning. I think that part of the problem is that he’s been anticipating going to grandma’s for a week now.

He’s been so excited about going that he’s literally been asking is it time? , is it time? every 5 minutes for the last few days.

Now that he’s down to the last few hours before he and Elliott leave, he’s on overload.

I think that the moment he leaves, he’ll feel much better.

Improving the lives of others

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

Improving the lives of others. Even if others is a Russian Tortoise.

The boys spent some time decorating the turtle table today. They went out and picked tons of dandelions and added them to the enclosure.

Thankfully, they have an endless supply in our yard.

I think it’s great that they are trying to improve the turtles environment. They did a great job and the turtle loves dandelions.  :-)

Emmett pulled a dresser over on himself

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

On Wednesday afternoon, Emmett and Elliott were playing.  All of a sudden we heard this really loud crash.

Elliott came running for help.

When we got there, Emmett was pinned under underneath this dresser/shelf.  Thankfully he wasn’t hurt but he was certainly scared.

Apparently, he was climbing on it and pulled it over on himself.

It was heartbreaking because he just kept apologizing endlessly.  We kept telling him that we weren’t mad at him.  Poor Emmett, he was so upset but thankfully okay.

Hopefully, this will be a lesson learned.  Don’t climb on things furniture.

The imagination of Emmett John

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

Emmett was being goofy a little while ago, which is a nice change for today. He was pretending to be a ghost.

He pulled his shirt up over his head and made spooky noises.

In between the spooky noises, one could make out cute little giggles. :-)

I absolutely love it when my kids use their imaginations. To me, it’s a really great way to get to know them better.

Going to bed happy

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

Because we have to be at the Cleveland Clinic so early in the morning, Elliott actually spent the night with Lizze’s parents and Gavin.

Emmett was upset that he wasn’t going so we De ides to have our own little sleepover/camp out.

We had special snacks, watched Ben 10 and fell asleep on the couch. He fell asleep right away but went to  bed happy and that’s all that matters.

Another Victory

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

I wanted to share something that I thought was really cool. Emmett’s just wracking up really amazing victories lately.

I snapped a picture of Emmett fixing Bella’s collar this morning.

We have been trying to help Emmett be as independent as possible at a very early age. He’s doing really well and we are quite proud of him.  :-)

Today’s humongous #Autism Victory: The Dentist

PinterestLinkedInRedditShare/Bookmark

I wrote earlier about Emmett’s having to visit the dentist this morning. Admittedly I was a bit wary of how this was going to go.

For starters, I’m indescribably terrified of the dentist, so I wasn’t sure how much of a supportive Daddy I would be today.

Lizze and I were also concerned that because of the need for a cavity fill, it might taint Emmett’s view of the dentist.  Prior to today, Emmett loved going to the dentist. That’s such a huge huge blessing, we didn’t want to ruin that.

I am so incredibly excited to report that if there was a brave Daddy award, I would receive it.

If there was an award for bravest most awesome kid, that would without question go to Emmett John.

I’m so proud of him.  Not once did he flinch or even complain. He ended up needing a root canal and a metal cap.  He did absolutely perfect and I mean, absolutely perfect.

He was such a little trooper and I don’t even have the words to explain how proud of him I am.

When the drilling started, I’m not ashamed to admit, I panicked. Emmett was so brave, he inspired me to be the same.

Dr.  Gerstenmaier, Emmett’s pediatric dentist, specializes in working with special needs kids.  He did such an amazing job with Emmett that Emmett felt perfectly comfortable.

This is such a huge relief and something I’d been dreading all week.  This has been an amazing experience and I’m sooooo proud of Emmett for doing so well.
